Talking Tiger , Hidden Agendas

From espn.com just moments ago:

"Tiger Woods will break his silence Friday, at which time he will speak to a small circle of confidantes in Florida and apologize for his behavior and discuss his plans for the future."

****************

I guess that little stint at the sex rehab clinic in Hattiesburg, MS seems to have done the trick. (no pun intended)

In an interview with ESPN, writer Benoit Denizet-Lewis, who spent some time in a couple of rehab clinics about 5 years ago, says "I wish I wasn't an expert on this (sex addiction). I wish I wasn't on talking about this."

BULL. SHIT.

First, he's got a book to sell - "America Anonymous: Eight Addicts in Search of a Life". Every national TV appearance is free advertising.

And second, who doesn't want to have more sex? With rare exception, anyone who claims he's too addicted to sex is lying. Note: I do not consider the consumption or overconsumption of pornography to be analogous to actual sex, but it appears that Denizet-Lewis and other so-called 'addiction experts' lump them into the same category.

That makes sense. After all, in America, it's all about being diagnosed with something. If we can give you a label or a diagnosis, then we can do two things:

1) grant you an excuse for your destructive behavior and
2) sell you drugs or some other type of therapy

Obviously, there are differences between a psychological addiction and a physical addiction, and some people do have one or both. When talking about addictions, I think they're only a problem when they dramatically affect other areas of your life for the worse. If you need sexual stimulation 18 hours a day, every day, then you're probably an addict. But if you only need 2 hours a day and that need is being met either physically or mentally, I don't see a problem. It fits nicely into your daily schedule and you lead a well-structured life around your supposed 'addiction'.

I've only known one true sex addict in my life and she was great. (Ok, TMI violation, but don't act like you didn't know that was coming.) The problem for her was that it's essentially crippled her in terms of being able to maintain a stable relationship. She requires sex multiple times per day so if you're dating her and you have a job that you go to every day, guess what? It isn't that she does not desire to be monogamous, she just has to have it.

All. The. Time.

And to all you guys out there thinking that's a dream woman, think again. lol

Oh, regarding Tiger. I've already stated my position - he's not a traditional 'sex addict'. He's just a horndog like any other college kid who is finally getting to taste total sexual freedom. Notice that not a single woman from Tiger's days at Stanford has come forward to claim she's slept with him. They're all recent. I don't have the complete timeline, but it's worth noticing that most have been with him in the past few years, since Earl's (his father) death.

The kid's every move was controlled as he was growing up and even into adulthood and so it's only natural that he would seek to make up for lost time. I know that many women are angry at Tiger (as if he cheated on them), but you can't argue with nature. You can fight it, but more often than not, nature is going to win in a case like this.

Tiger owes his family an apology and he's done that publicly. He doesn't owe the rest of us a damn thing, except to get back out there and start winning golf tournaments.
